Day 12: Already Over Winter

 

Here we go ! It's a new year. Time to get back on track with diet and exercise. The goal is 100 pounds by 12-31-25. Can I do it ? Well, I won't know unless I try. My original Day 12 blog can be found here. My original Day 12 was unremarkable as the plumbing issues were resolved and I went to work. I am all for a drama free day !

I woke up just before 9 and it's a chilly but snow free day ! It was 20 when I got up and the high for the day is only 25. At least it is not snowing ! There were no stray cats again today, so I just replenished the dry food. I can see they've been eating it, so hopefully it is sustaining them through this weather.

Breakfast was 180 calorie Eggo waffles with sugar free syrup. I didn't have a yogurt, morning snack or afternoon snack. Lunch was pizza. Calories unknown and tomorrow will be the final slice ! Dinner was 220 calorie rotini with meatballs and a couple teaspoons of romano cheese. Evening snack will be a 140 calorie chocolate cupcake with whipped cream.

Once I ate my waffles I logged in to my ATT account to see if I could submit my unlock request. I was able to do that and immediately ordered service with Mint Mobile. It'll be 2-3 days before I receive my SIM card, so I can't jump ship yet. I am SO excited to make this change. The cost for 3 months of service was $52.65 - which is less than ONE month of service with ATT. Why am I so excited about this ? Maybe I just feel like I'm sticking it to ATT by leaving. To be fair, the $80 I am paying to ATT includes about $26 for my device and unlimited data. I haven't needed unlimited data for years but I tend to be resistant to change and the cost never concerned me while I was working. Also, my discount was better when I was an employee. Going forward I will buy my phone directly from Samsung. They offer trade in deals so I don't think I'd ever have to pay full price. Mint might offer trade in deals too, so I won't count that out. All in all, it's a smart move as I want to lower my expenses as much as possible.

Speaking of changes, I'm also going to switch to unflavored coffee and give up the flavor syrups. I'm sitting here now drinking vanilla flavored coffee with vanilla syrup and I don't like it. I also bought a couple of Walmart brand flavored coffees and the artificial flavor is just awful. Either my taste is changing or manufacturers are continuing to cheapen their products to boost profits. I'm also drinking tea and I like that because I've never been one to use cream or sugar in it. If I find I just can't tolerate plain old black coffee I can always buy a flavored syrup or creamer at Walmart. In reality, all the artificial flavorings just takes away from the flavor of the actual coffee. I had previously stated in my old blog that I was giving up the syrups. I'll use what I have and then I'm done !

It seems like Minnie has accepted the new furniture arrangement. She was snoozing on the pillow in her usual spot when I came downstairs this morning. Since I hopped on my computer right after eating, she settled back on the pillow after she had her breakfast and litter box visit. It's about 10:30 now and she is still there. I knew she'd be fine.

It seems the winter storm warning has ended but there is snow in the forecast around 8 pm tonight. There is also snow in the forecast around 5 pm in Cicero. I may end up not going to bingo this week. It's so cold and I am just over snow.

One thing I need to do in order to cement the end of my career is dump the laptops I never sent back. It's been over 6 months since I was laid off and no one has asked for them. I can't be bothered shipping them back and apparently no one is tracking equipment. They're in boxes out in the garage right now. I'd jump up and down on them but I'd probably fall and hurt myself .. lol ! I might just drop them a few times for fun ! I kept the power supplies so I can move my personal laptops around without dragging the power supply. You know what I say ? F--k ATT !!!

5 days from now Donald Trump will become President again. I'm looking forward to watching the inauguration and I hope there is no violence in DC. Confirmation hearings are underway for his cabinet picks and of course the Democrats are being their usual self-righteous asshole selves. Hopefully all of his picks make it through ! I wouldn't want to be a Republican who crosses him. That would pretty much be the end of your political career. As is custom, Trump will issue a ton of Executive Orders the minute he takes office. Good riddance to Biden and that twat Kamala Harris ! She can fade back into the obscurity she came from. Talk about your failed DEI hires ! I love hearing how so many companies are canceling DEI policies. I saw first hand how that can destroy a company. ATT was in much better shape before they went that route. It's a bit satisfying to see all the DEI hires that took our jobs now be on the receiving end of the same thing. I'll be stalking LinkedIn for the "open to work" badge ! There's a lot more opportunity in Jacksonville FL so they will likely find jobs, but I doubt they will come with the same salary and benefits they enjoy now. I see what employers are willing to pay and it's nowhere near what I was making. The job market is saturated and employers know it, so they have no incentive to pay well. I'm glad to be at the end of my career as it has to be very demoralizing for those just starting out.

I made the decision to skip bingo tonight because snow was predicted here and in Cicero. It's so stressful worrying about the weather and I just couldn't today. It's nearly 7 pm and there is no snow here. However, the radar shows some lake effect right on top of Cicero so I think I made the right decision. I spent the afternoon watching YouTube and playing Cookie Jam. I did finally throw a load of laundry in and I'm going to take a shower as soon as it's out of the dryer.

In exciting news, my SIM for Mint Mobile was shipped today. I have the Fedex tracking # but there is no arrival date yet. Their website said 2-3 day shipping, so I'm hoping to have it by Saturday. Mine should come a day after Michelle's so we'll see when she gets hers. I can't wait to hit cancel on my ATT account ! I may treat myself to a new phone before the year is out, so I'm going to keep an eye out for deals from Samsung. The S25 is coming out soon, so I'm sure they'll be looking to unload any S24's they have in stock. Who knows .. I might just order the new S25+ !! I'm getting a huge tax refund (and a prorated bonus) and I deserve a little treat !

On that note, I'm going to finalize this blog. I don't plan on doing anything other that putting my laundry away, showering, watching YouTube and playing Cookie Jam. It's been a good day !
