Day 5: Eyes Forward

 




Here we go ! It's a new year. Time to get back on track with diet and exercise. The goal is 100 pounds by 12-31-25. Can I do it ? Well, I won't know unless I try. My original Day 5 blog can be found here.


The deep freeze has us firmly in it's grip today. It's 10:38 pm and it's only 15 degrees. Starting tomorrow we'll see daytime high's in the 20's and 30's, which is still cold but anything is better than the teen's ! My heat is holding up well and that is all that matters to me !


On this day in 2019 I was dealing with a split pipe in the basement that caused a leak. The restoration company that did the work sent someone out to fix it at no charge. I let that issue freak me out but I didn't "emotional eat", even though I had chicken tenders and ranch dressing in the house. I had to take 2 vacations days (this day and the following day) in order for the plumbers to complete their work. I was holding up after the news of the office closing, but just barely. Instead of rehashing the past, I'm making an effort to keep my focus on the present and future. I can't change the past and the future is bright if I work hard and stay focused !


As for today, I was awake very early for some reason. I managed to stay in bed until maybe 7:30 or shortly thereafter. I've spent the morning watching YouTube and playing Cookie Jam. Today is rock & roll bingo and I will probably go, since there doesn't seem to be much risk of significant snow. We have a "winter weather advisory" now instead of a storm watch/warning. There is nothing on the radar, so I'm not worried. As I've said many times, I'm fine with driving in the snow as long as I can see the road. I already know 81 is bone dry and Route 69 was in great shape yesterday. I'll take a shower around 2 or 3 and then start getting ready. My Nutrisystem order is supposed to be delivered today, so I'll have to fit all that into the freezer. I think I have enough space but I'm definitely going to have to delay my next order a couple weeks. As always, I have a TON of dinner entrees. I will have some of the enchiladas for lunch and I have other options (like Eggo waffles) for the other meals.


Breakfast was a 180 calorie cinnamon roll and I had an 80 calorie yogurt around 11. Lunch was a 220 calorie pepperoni pizza melt. 


Since it is still so cold there were no stray cats this morning. I haven't seen them since January 2nd ! I hope they are ok. It's supposed to be a little warmer tomorrow, so maybe they'll venture out. I've seen one on the camera a couple times but when I go to the back door there is no one there. I haven't put canned food out because it would freeze quickly and go to waste. When I do see them I plan to give them extra food !


My Nutrisystem order was delivered a bit ago and I think this is the first time I've had a female Fedex driver. Good for her ! With all the snow they have to carry packages from the driveway to the front door, instead of from the street in front of the house. The delivery isn't super heavy but it's big and bulky. Hopefully she just dragged it through the snow since the entire thing is wrapped in plastic. It's almost 12:30 now and some light snow is falling.


Something I keep forgetting to write about: my left hip pain ! I discovered that if I stretch that leg out in bed it relieves any discomfort and allows me to sleep on that side without taking Tylenol ! I just stretch it out straight for a minute anytime it is bothering me.
