Day 9 & 10: Catching Up
Here we go ! It's a new year. Time to get back on track with diet and exercise. The goal is 100 pounds by 12-31-25. Can I do it ? Well, I won't know unless I try. My original Day 9 & 10 blogs can be found here and here. Day 9 was an uneventful Saturday but I woke up to frozen pipes again on Sunday, which was day 10. This has pretty much been an annual occurrence and I don't really freak out about it anymore. I was also moving into the acceptance phase of the office closing. I may have already known I wasn't losing my job, it's hard to say as I don't think I wrote about my private meeting with Tom in my blog. He was kind enough to let me know I'd have a job, so that made me happy. He lost his job the same day I did, so I guess none of us were valued.
I was too lazy to write yesterday. I spent the whole morning watching YouTube and playing Cookie Jam. Just after 1:30 I headed over to Kim & Joe's house. Dinner was beef wellington and a salad. I was sad there was no lasagna ! Dessert was cake & ice cream and some creampuffs that Erin & Alyssa made. I had a good time but the beef wellington was soggy and the meat wasn't cooked as much as I would have liked. It was clear they didn't sear the meat the way you're supposed to, as that would have sealed the juices in and kept the pastry from getting soggy. Oh well. Easy for me to criticize since I wasn't the one doing the cooking. We played Phase 10 and it was just a relaxing day. I got home about 8:40 as I stopped at Walmart to pick up a milk and some other things I didn't need. I bought a jar of peanut butter. Not the end of the world. I also bought stuff to make pizza over the next couple days, along with a package of sugar cookies. Not the best choices, but not the worst. I looked for pretzels but they had nothing. The night before a storm is a bad time to shop at Walmart as many shelves were empty. I will admit I looked for cherry pie and cheese danish, but they had none of that either ! I happened to look outside after I fed Minnie and one of the strays was there ! I was so happy to see her and she gobbled down a can of food. I've seen a couple others on the security cameras, but haven't found them waiting at the door.
I ended up sleeping on the couch last night ! I was so tired and too lazy to go upstairs. I first woke up just after 6 but went back to sleep until about 8. During the night all the snow came off my roof and blocked the upper part of the driveway. Rather than leave it and have to pay Doug to clear it I went out about 9 and started shoveling ! It was not easy as a lot of the snow was icy and heavy. I pushed as much as I could to either margin of the driveway and then shoveled it off the edges. I had to get a metal shovel for some of it as it was pure ice and my plastic shovel couldn't break through. It took me about 70 minutes but I got the job done ! The village came through and hauled away most of the snow along the road, so there is better visibility and more room for whatever we get over the next couple days. They cleared across the street from me, so Doug will have a place to push the snow from my driveway. They come through will a giant snowblower and a truck to haul it away. When I came I grabbed a yogurt, diet coke and the cookies. I had some soda but then went out to clear off the front steps and the area in front of the steps. That only took a couple minutes. So I'm all ready for the next round of snow ! I'm glad all that weight is off my roof. My roof unloaded into the driveway just before 11:30 pm last night. I'm glad it didn't happen before I went out yesterday or before I got home ! That would have been quite the disaster. I had an easier time getting the car out yesterday because I paid closer attention the back up camera. I feel like I turn the wheel sooner than is necessary when I back out. I'd like to clear more snow away but I'm done for today. I can already tell I'm going to be sore, so I've taken a couple Tylenol. Getting the heavy metal shovel out was a game changer. I need to remember to use that on the heavy icy stuff in the future. It broke it apart and I just pushed the large pieces across the driveway and then scooped them out of the way. It's not supposed to start snowing today until about 5 pm and it's going to snow all day tomorrow. The good news is Wednesday looks pretty good, so I may be able to go to rock & roll bingo ! There's a chance of snow showers Wednesday night, but if the roads are clean I'll be fine.
What did I eat yesterday ? Breakfast was 180 calorie waffled with sugar free syrup. Lunch was a 220 calorie pepperoni pizza melt. I might have had an 80 calorie yogurt too. Dinner was the salad & beef wellington mentioned above. Also had cake & ice cream and a few cream puffs. I had 2 cookies when I got home. They are 160 calories each, so that is 320.
Breakfast today was 180 calorie Eggo waffles with sugar free syrup. I got a yogurt out but never ate it. Lunch was .. drumroll .. pizza ! I didn't have a morning snack or that yogurt, so I'm not going to sweat the extra calories. Dinner was a 240 calorie enchilada. Evening snack was a 140 calorie chocolate cupcake with whipped cream. I also had 4 cookies (640 calories) and some cashews.
I spent the entire afternoon and evening watching YouTube. I was so tired after my snow shoveling. There was a lot of laziness there too!
