Day 103: Terrible Tuesday (not really)

 

Time for a new mission statement. My goal for 2025 was to lose 100 pounds by 12-31-25 but I've failed miserably. At some point I need to pick myself up and try. A realistic goal at this point is 50 pounds by 12-31-25, so that is where I will start. When will I start ? I don't know .. do I need a "starting point" ? I don't. Every day that I don't "start" just adds to my misery. I plan to just take each day as it comes and do what I can to move closer to where I want to be. Life has changed and I haven't been able to adapt just yet.

My alarm went off right on schedule at 8 am but Minnie had already been in to wake me up. I guess she was hungry or just wanted attention .. lol ! I got up about 8:20, so that wasn't bad. The only stray cat waiting to eat was one of the males that provides stud service ! Later I looked out and the friendly orange male was waiting to eat. No sign of the female, old orange or the less friendly orange. I'm pretty sure someone else feeds the strays as I didn't see them for a long stretch when the snow got bad.

While I was enjoying my coffee the garbage men came ! It wasn't even 9 am and I hadn't even thought about putting out the trash. Turns out my bin was empty so I likely wouldn't have bothered anyway, especially since it's pretty windy today. I emptied the garbage can in the kitchen and I'll plan on putting the trash out next week. I spent morning watching YouTube and playing my online slots, but I also washed the dishes, scrubbed the stove and ran the dishwasher. The kitchen looks much nicer now ! I also sent an email to the code guy here in the village to see about the dry well in the yard. It's a safety hazard and I'm pretty sure it's there for storm water runoff. I think the village needs to put a new cover on it. We'll see what he has to say ! After I sent that email I went to take a shower and with a face full of cleanser I discovered I had no hot water !!!  WTF ! I got out of the shower, used a washcloth to get the soap off my face, dried off and then headed to the basement to investigate. The display on the boiler was flashing as if it was shorting out. I unplugged it several times and that didn't resolve the issue, so I texted my heating guy. He suggested unplugging for at least 10 seconds and then trying again. By the time I went to the basement the second time it had resolved itself ! He followed up with a text to say it's possible there was some wind blowback in the exhaust outlet and that could throw the boiler off. We'll see if it continues to happen ! For now, I have hot water and should have heat when the temp drops tonight ! It's 4 pm now and I may try to take a shower again later.

I also cleared a bunch of junk off the dining room table, just in case I had to have the heating guy come. The house is actually much neater, so I need to keep doing little things whenever I get up.

Breakfast today was the last of the cheese danish. Around lunch time I had the very last Nutrisystem chicken sandwich and the last burrito that had been hanging around. My new shipment is supposed to be delivered today, so I wanted to get those last lunch items gone. I also spent a few minutes restacking my inventory in the freezer to make sure the oldest stuff is used first. Fortunately I've eaten everything that was expired or close to expiring. I have some chicken breasts that I need to start eating so I put 2 of them in the fridge to thaw. They're pretty tasty when you cook them in the air fryer but they cook best if they're thawed first.

I didn't go to the post office today but I'll do that tomorrow, since I'll likely be going out to rock & roll bingo.
