Day 141 & 142: Feeling Hopeful

 

Time for a new mission statement. My goal for 2025 was to lose 100 pounds by 12-31-25 but I've failed miserably. At some point I need to pick myself up and try. A realistic goal at this point is 50 pounds by 12-31-25, so that is where I will start. When will I start ? I don't know .. do I need a "starting point" ? I don't. Every day that I don't "start" just adds to my misery. I plan to just take each day as it comes and do what I can to move closer to where I want to be. Life has changed and I haven't been able to adapt just yet.

It's Saturday May 24 and today marks exactly one year since my job ended. Honestly, the time has flown ! I think I'm over it and ready to embrace the rest of my life, however long that may be. Much of what I have today is thanks to the great job I had, but it's hard not to be a bit bitter about the way it ended. I'd have been happy to get 3 more years in but I guess that was not my destiny !

Yesterday I went to Boscov's with Kim. I bought a couple new tops and a pair of shorts since I'm going to be "plus size" for a while and I had gotten rid of all my fat clothes ! I hated shopping in the plus size section again ! I also bought a couple of vinyl table covers for the porch, a mesh strainer and a mandolin. I'll use the strainer for draining corn and green beans and I'll use the mandolin to slice cucumbers. The mandolin is a set that includes grating, chopping and slicing blades, so I should be able to get a lot of use out of it. I also bought some cinnamon coated cashews and pecans. I ate the cashews last night and they were not that great. There was zero crunch in the nuts so I suspect they had been sitting there a while. After Boscov's we went to 99 Restaurant & Pub. I had a Michelob Ultra and smothered beef tips with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Food was great ! After that we tracked down the Olde Wicker Mill store because she had a gift card to use. I didn't buy anything there. We stumbled across a cupcake place and stopped in there to check it out. I bought 2 cupcakes and 2 cookies and I wasn't impressed. The cupcakes were no better than what I could bake at home and the cookies were ordinary. What a waste of $10 ! Our last stop was the Olde Kountry Market. I bought some bran & flax muffins and a bag of cheese curds. It was a great way to spend a gloomy rainy day ! I got home about 7 pm. I picked up the mail before I headed out. As usual, most of it was junk !

Today has been a relatively lazy day but I did shower, wash my hair and complete my skin care routine. After my shower I took the scissors to my hair and brought it up to my shoulders. I probably cut 4 inches off and it feels so good ! I also ordered a new supply of my skin care from Beekman 1802 since I'm getting low on the 2 serums I use. It cost about $174 with tax but they had a little sale and that is about $15 than my last order, which was September 30, 2024. This is about the only luxury I'm allowing myself these days. I really didn't "need" to buy it but it made sense to shop the sale.

I have a lesson to learn from yesterday's shopping trip. I am DONE buying food items on a whim. I regret buying the nuts, the cupcakes and the cookies. I don't regret the muffins because they are really good. I had one for breakfast today and I haven't eaten anything else. It was $6.49 well spent ! It's 5 pm now and I'm starving, so I may reheat my leftover beef tips shortly. I don't regret the cheese curds either, as they're not a bad thing.

I spent the morning and much of the afternoon playing the online slots. 88 Fortunes took much of my coins but I was able to get through today's challenge and I have enough for a good start tomorrow. Dancing Drums remains steady but I've been a little bored with the game selection. Today I played some of the games I don't like just to break up the monotony. CluBillion took ALL of my nearly 50B coins but I used some of freebie items they give you and got them all back. Then I played a bit and ended up with 270B ! I cut myself off there, instead of being greedy ! Jackpot World is still being stingy but I played a side game for a long time.
